Mayola Rowser, PhD, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP has been named the incoming Jack Taylor Dean of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. Arriving in May, Rowser joins Goldfarb from the University of Southern Indiana, where she held a number of positions over the past 13 years, including director of Graduate Studies since 2015, assistant dean and director of community health centers. Arriving in May, Rowser joins Goldfarb from the University of Southern Indiana, where she held a number of positions over the past 13 years, including director of Graduate Studies since 2015, assistant dean and director of community health centers.
“Dr. Rowser is coming to us with a wealth of experience and expertise in higher education administration and accreditation,” said Nancy Ridenour, PhD, RN, APRN, BC, FAAN, Maxine Clark and Bob Fox President and Professor of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. “In addition, she is an advanced practice nurse practitioner with a specialty in psych mental health nursing. I am thrilled to have her joining our leadership team.”
Rowser holds a doctor of philosophy degree in nursing and a doctor of nursing practice from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, along with a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Indiana. She is also certified as a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
“I am excited and honored to lead Goldfarb School of Nursing,” said Rowser. “I look forward to working with Dr. Ridenour, the faculty, staff and amazing alumni and students to focus on advancing Goldfarb and nursing education.”
Rowser is a member of several organizations including American Association Colleges of Nursing, American National Nurses Center Consortium – Mental Health Task Force and the American Nurses Association. She has numerous honors for her leadership and research receiving the 2005 Academic Excellence and Community Service Award and being chosen for the Minority Fellowship Program at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
In her role as dean, Rowser will serve as the chief academic officer overseeing all academic programs within the school of nursing. She will be responsible for educational policy, establishing academic standards for each specialty area and oversight of evaluation.
