The selection process for admission to Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing is based on a review of applicants’ personal and academic records. Applicants for admission are considered without regard to race, color, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, marital status or any factor protected by law in the administration of educational policies, admission policies, financial aid, employment or any other college program or activity. Applicants will be treated with respect and professionalism and communicated with in a truthful and timely manner.

What type of programs are offered at the Goldfarb School of Nursing?

We offer 3 Pre-Licensure nursing program options: The Upper Division, The Accelerated and The Weekend/Evening Option. Each program has special requirements that must be completed before an applicant can attend our school. It is recommended that students do not work more than part-time while enrolled in our Upper Division BSN program. It is also recommended that students do not work a job at all while enrolled in our Accelerated BSN program.

We also offer several Post-Licensure programs for BSN-prepared nurses looking to obtain their MSN, DNP or PhD degree.

When do classes start?

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College has 3 terms in a calendar year, with classes starting in January (Spring), May (Summer) and September (Fall). For specific start dates, see the Academic Calendar.

Do you offer a part-time or an evening/weekend pre-licensure BSN program?

Yes, we offer a Weekend/Evening BSN program option. Additionally, clinicals may be scheduled by the college any day or evening, depending on site availability. 

How long are your pre-licensure BSN programs?

The Accelerated BSN Program is a 12-Month, 3-Term Program. The Upper Division BSN Program is a 20-Month, 5-Term Program and The Weekend/Evening BSN Program is a 36-Month, 9-Term Program. 

 

Do all of the prerequisites need to be completed before I can submit my application?

No, applicants can submit their applications prior to the completion of all pre-requisites. As long as the applicant has only 3 or fewer prerequisites left to complete and meets the minimum GPA requirement, the applicant can start the application process. However, all prerequisites must be completed prior to your start date.

Are there any time limits on any of your prerequisite courses?

Applicants must have taken Anatomy & Physiology I and II with Labs and Microbiology with Lab within the past 5 years for the Accelerated, Upper Division and Weekend/Evening BSN programs. All of the core prerequisite courses cannot have been taken more than twice in the past 5 years. We do not have a time limit for the other prerequisite courses.

Can I audit a course?

Applicants who wish to audit a course(s) must complete an application form and pay the $150 tuition deposit. Approval from the appropriate academic dean must be obtained prior to acceptance in audit status. These students are not eligible for federal or state financial aid funds. Tuition will be charged for auditing a course.

Do you offer health insurance while I am enrolled at the college?

No. Students are responsible for their own health insurance and health care management while enrolled at the college.

What type of computer access and software does Goldfarb School of Nursing require?

Degree-seeking students are expected to have access to a computer with internet and to be proficient in Microsoft Word.
