Overview
Goldfarb’s AGPCNP Master's program option prepares students to educationally and clinically provide care for adults, as well as diagnose, treat and manage adults with acute and chronic conditions in appropriate primary care settings.
Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College offers the Master of Science in Nursing Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration for BSN-prepared registered nurses interested in becoming an advanced practice nurse focusing on caring for adult patients. Through the program, students will be educationally and clinically prepared to provide care for healthy adults, as well as evaluate, treat and manage adults with acute and chronic conditions.
Concentration Highlights
Our Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner concentration has many benefits to students. The concentration builds upon a foundation in theory, research, ethics and health policy to advance students’ understanding of clinical decision-making needed in advanced practice roles. Clinical experiences are conducted in clinics, physicians’ offices and other primary care settings in the St. Louis area. A portion of clinical practicum experiences are pre-arranged. An individualized curriculum plan will be developed based on a gap analysis of the applicant’s prior course work.

Career Prospects
Graduates of the accredited Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration will be prepared to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) certification exams to become certified in the field.
As an advanced practice nurse, you will have an opportunity to deliver patient care in a variety of settings such as family practice offices, internal medicine offices, some hospital settings, urgent care, community clinics, assisted living and long-term facilities and home health settings.

Admission Requirements
The following items are required when applying to the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration:
- BSN from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate coursework
- Unencumbered/unrestricted RN license in good standing, Current CV or resume
- Current BLS provider status
- Official transcripts from all institutions where credit was earned
- Two letters of reference from individuals who can address the applicant’s academic and clinical potential
- Personal statement that addresses the desired area of specialization, personal attributes, program, and career goals
