Weekend / Evening Option

Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Weekend/Evening Option (WEO), a 36 month, part-time program option for undergraduate transfer students who have completed their first two years of education at an accredited institution of higher learning.

Our Weekend/Evening option has many benefits to students, but here are a few of them:

A Schedule That Works for You

WEO allows undergraduate transfer students to pursue a career in nursing with a schedule that works around their full-time, busy lives. In just nine terms, students can successfully complete a BSN program.

Relevant, Rigorous Curriculum

Beyond technical skills, you’ll have access to strong core nursing courses focused on adult care, childbearing, pediatrics, mental health and community patient populations.

Interdisciplinary Emphasis

We believe nursing education should be integrated alongside other disciplines to understand how they work together as a team to deliver patient care. We emphasize interprofessional simulations across other disciplines. You’ll have the chance to collaborate with your counterparts in medicine, physical therapy, pharmacy, social work and other related fields.

World-Class Simulation Center

Beyond the classroom, we’ve made advanced simulation technology a fundamental part of the clinical learning experience. Our Clinical Simulation Institute combines sophisticated resources with a supportive environment that teaches patient care in a realistic setting. The skills labs and hypothetical scenarios are designed to prepare you for the real-world challenges you’ll face in the field.

Clinicals are Diverse and Convenient

Your clinical experience will give you an opportunity to explore a variety of healthcare settings and help you determine which is the right fit for your career after nursing school. Our rotations will expose you to real-world healthcare environments in diverse settings throughout St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County, from rural clinics to inner-city hospitals.

The Weekend/Evening Option admissions requirements are as follows:

* Denotes Core Prerequisites

Applicants with a prior bachelor’s degree are only required to complete core prerequisites. Applicants without a prior bachelor's degree must complete all listed courses.

• Minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on core prerequisites
• Minimum of 54 credit hours in the following prerequisites. (Note: Anatomy and Physiology I & II and Microbiology must have been taken within the last five years. Core prerequisites may not have been taken more than twice within the last five years.)
• Anatomy and Physiology I with lab*
• Anatomy and Physiology II with lab*
• Microbiology with lab*
• Nutrition*
• General Psychology*
• Human Growth and Development* (across the lifespan)
• Statistics*
• English Composition I*
• English Composition II
• Speech or Oral Communications
• 1 Social Science Elective (3 Credit Hours) - (Examples: Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Speech, History, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Criminal Justice; Please refer to your college catalog for other social science courses)
• 3 Humanities Electives (9 Credit Hours) - (Examples: Philosophy, Music, Art, Foreign Language, Literature, Religion; Please refer to your college catalog for other humanities courses)
• 3 Electives (9 Credit Hours) - (Example: Any 3-credit hour college level course)
