Merriam-Webster defines philanthropy as “goodwill to fellow members of the human race.” Going back to its Greek origins, the word philanthropy means “love of mankind.” It combines two Greek words: philos (love) and anthropos (to be human). That means anyone can engage in philanthropy, regardless of the size of their gift. On Friday, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away from complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer. The second woman appointed to the Supreme Court, her dedication and courage spoke volumes.
