Goldfarb President and Dean Receives St. Louis Magazine Nursing in Excellence Award

Nancy Ridenour, PhD, RN, APRN, BC, FAAN, president and the Maxine Clark and Bob Fox dean and professor of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, was named the 2019 St. Louis Magazine Excellence in Nursing Award winner for administration. In addition to Dr. Ridenour, Goldfarb educators Lisa Burnitt, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, assistant professor and director of the adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner program, and Tamara Otey, PhD, RN, assistant professor, were also nominated.
Nancy Carroll Allen Supports Alton High Graduates with Full Nursing Scholarships

Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing has received an unprecedented gift that will provide a full annual scholarship to an Alton High School student or graduate pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The gift was made by Nancy Carroll Allen, a 1965 alumna of Jewish Hospital School of Nursing and former staff member of Jewish Hospital, now known as Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Sarah Farabi, PhD, RN, assistant professor at Goldfarb, worked with a team of researchers as a post-doctoral fellow in 2018 and found undiagnosed, mild obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is common in late pregnancy among women who are obese. The study also found that poor sleep and OSA might contribute to increased glycemic profiles and insulin resistance.

Rowser to lead Goldfarb School of Nursing as New Dean

Mayola Rowser, PhD, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP has been named the incoming Jack Taylor Dean of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. Arriving in May, Rowser joins Goldfarb from the University of Southern Indiana, where she held a number of positions over the past 13 years, including director of Graduate Studies since 2015, assistant dean and director of community health centers. Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree that prepares students to care for patients and families in hospitals, in the community and a variety of other settings.
