Nine new scholarships include options for veterans, alumni relatives & dependents of BJC employees. For those with nursing aspirations, that first day at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College marks a significant milestone in their lives. To ensure more aspiring nurses have the opportunity to achieve their career goals, the college recently revamped its scholarship program and is offering nine new scholarship opportunities for new students.
Missouri Baptist Medical Center Establishes Nancy A. Ross, RN Endowed Chair for Nursing

A gift from Donald and Nancy Ross to celebrate nurses and help advance the practice of nursing at Missouri Baptist, where Goldfarb’s West Campus Site is located.
The endowed chair will be held by the Missouri Baptist Chief Nursing Officer, currently Tim Mislan, MS, BSN, RN, NEA-BC who is also a member of Goldfarb’s board of trustees.
GOLDFARB is a yearly magazine of Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing. It is designed to share news and information with alumni, the nursing community and friends throughout the St. Louis community.

The Midwest Nursing Research Society’s annual research conference took place April 6 – 9, 2017. Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing had 17 representatives in attendance, with a number of those representatives presenting at the conference.

Nancy Ridenour named Dean of Goldfarb School of Nursing and President of Barnes-Jewish College

Nancy Ridenour, PhD, APRN, BC, FAAN, has been named the next dean of Goldfarb School of Nursing and president of Barnes-Jewish College. She is set to join the College on September 1, 2017. Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing hosted a screening of the documentary, “Newtown,” which chronicles the aftermath of the mass shooting of 20 elementary school children and six educators in that Connecticut town on Dec. 14, 2012. After the screening panelists provided suggestions on how health care professionals and community constituents could work together to help reduce violence and improve the quality of life in St. Louis.
Horng-Shiuann Wu, PhD, RN, associate professor at Goldfarb, is featured on the cover of the Oncology Nursing Society's magazine for her research on comorbidities in patients with breast cancer. Dr. Wu is only one of two nurses in the country conducting research on this much understudied area involving the health care of patients with cancer. “As nurse graduates, you have chosen wisely with perfect timing,” said Tim Mislan, BSN, MS-NEC-BS, Missouri Baptist Medical Center vice president and chief nurse executive and a member of Goldfarb’s board of trustees. On Dec. 17, 140 nursing students received their diplomas at the Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing fall commencement event at Powell Hall. The graduating students received Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing degrees before a crowd of their family and friends.
